What does "fairly traded" mean in the case of rubber?
Fair Deal Trading is pioneering in the development of supply chains for Fairly Traded, Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified rubber. We pay a Fair Trade premium of EUR 0.50/kg DRC (Dry Rubber Content), as well as FSC certification costs. A joint body at plantation level decides on the use of the Fair Trade premium in accordance with the principle: Whoever produced a product should decide on how to spend the income. So far there is no independent Fair Trade label for Fairly Traded rubber, which is why Fair Deal Trading has entered into bilateral agreements with the suppliers. These deal with issues of payment, decision making, reporting ... Regular visits by Fair Deal Trading or dedicated consultants guarantee that any problems can be solved mutually and that monitoring is ensured.
